Maine

I had the wonderful opportunity to fly back to Maine this past week. If you have never been to Maine....you must go...it is one of my favorite places and holds many childhood memories and a special place in my heart. My brother Tim and his wife Audree live in Maine and celebrated their marriage by having a wedding (which they never had the chance to do before) and vow renewal. It was a special and beautiful weekend, and both families were all able to attend. I sadly did not take many pictures (hopefully will add more later) but here's a little glimpse of my time there:

A delicious dinner Friday night:

The morning of the ceremony was perfect for the garden occasion. It was held in a Japanese garden in Bar Harbor, Maine.

Lovely parents:

Mom and Dad looking mighty spiffy

Afterward we went to another garden for more pictures, this one abundant in late summer flowers...gorgeous. Here's my brother Kevin and Alexa :)

Tim had two of his close friends (Brian and Bruce) - friends he's known since college come in for the weekend.

In the afternoon we climbed aboard the Rachel Jackson schooner and sailed out to a nearby island - again, amazing weather! here Heather and I am (a small lighthouse is in the background)

So they had us help raise the sails - no easy duty on such a ship! here's Tim and Brian hauling it up :) (forgive the not-so-good videography)

Audree, her mother, and her sister Stella

Dinner was served at the island's quaint seaside restaurant - here is Brian (looking more eager than I think he really was!!) about to sample his first Maine lobster....it provided some dinner entertainment at the very least :)

Tim and Audree have become friends with a local author/artist who lives on the island, we stopped by his place after dinner. It was full of collected items from around the world, and a surplus of creativity that was rather awe-inspiring. He also works with sea glass to create these stained glass works -

....enjoying the sunset from Little Cranberry island with a little photo session :)

the next day we had the privilege to spend the morning at Dr. Bob's and Mimi's lakeside home. after a breakfast complete with fresh blueberries, we explored the lake by boat and kayak and...well for some, by ski. Here's Heather looking quite happy to be back up on a ski finally! What a place....hehe, I got sunburned in Maine, people thought that was funny as I was coming from a tropical island home.

Kevin's dog Hazel, just chillin on the way home from the lake (that = very happy tired dog)

The last day we ventured out into Acadia park and went for a light hike...ahh, it was soul-renewing to be out in the woods and on a trail again.

Me and the sibs at breakfast:

I'm thankful to Tim & Audree for such a beautiful weekend - and am happy to have been able to join everyone in celebrating their love and marriage.
I cherished the time with family and was blessed by the beauty of the surroundings! We need those moments...
