Road Trip #3, Pacific Northwest ect...

We headed up to Portland, OR to visit James, Korwren, and Eli Peterson for the weekend. We had a wonderful time catching up! We spent some time visiting Jack and his family and also James and Jack's parents over in Vancouver, WA. We also were able to meet up with Manny Bockich, Scott's college roommate from Southern for Sunday breakfast.

Next we went camping for a couple of nights at Olympic National Park, WA. We had beautiful weather and went on a nice 12 mile hike to see this view.
From the campground we went to get the ferry only to find out that the first ferry was at 8:15 (we got there at 8:45), and the next ferry wasn't until 2:00 that afternoon. I guess the up side is that we got to poke around Port Angeles all morning. We finally took the ferry from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, B.C. We arrived to Victoria in the late afternoon and we able to walk around and explore the city. We ended up in a hostel that night. We had a private room, but it was extremely tiny - you open the door and climb directly into the bed! and then went to visit The Buchart Gardens. It was a little rainy, but that just keep the crowds away! Lots and lots of pretty flowers.
Our next stop was Port Alberni, B.C. to visit our friend Marlon Peters.
Some of the highlights:

- Mountain biking and trail running
- Tofino - it was raining a cold and there still were surfers and kite boarders out in the water
Next stop was to hopefully go rock climbing in Index, WA. It was wet and raining so we didn't go. We did have a cool campsite down by the river though.

Since we couldn't climb at Index, we drove over to Leavenworth, WA to check it out. We ended up going on a great mountain bike ride there. The temperatures were a little cold, but the fall colors and scenery made it worth it!
We then spent the evening with Mike, Caroline, and Ellie Clark in Naches, WA. We forgot to take a photo - so I took Caroline's off of facebook, thanks!

Dave Clark, my dental school also lives there and came over for dinner. It was wonderful to catch up and see beautiful Naches.

The next morning we headed out early to get to Goldendale, WA for breakfast with my Uncles and Aunts. Our visit was wonderful even though it was somewhat short. Next time we'll stay a little longer.

Uncle Stanton has a giant greenhouse that he grows all kinds of things. Strawberries especially.We then drove on to Twin Falls, ID to visit Steve and Elizabeth Kohtz. Steve and Erika were residency classmates at Kaiser Fontana.



And then we were off to Grand Teton National Park, WY.

The next day we drove to Yellowstone National Park, WY
It was still snowing. Behind me is old faithful. We saw it do its thing, but because of the weather, we really didn't see much.
