ROTA

On Monday last week I took a day trip to Rota. Rota is a small island just a few miles north of Guam. It only takes 15 minutes by air! Currently there is not a dentist on the island and there are 5000 people that currently have to travel off island in order to have any dental work done. This was a business trip of sorts to determine if we could provide dentistry up there. Here are a few pictures of the trip.

I learned a few things about procedure... When visiting the island for "business" reasons, stop #1 is always the mayor's office. The mayor was off island, but we had a nice chat with the second in command. His picture is below. We then visited the hospital, which also is where the their dental facility is located.

We then spent some time seeing the sites of this beautiful little island...

There used to be narrow gauge rail around the island to transport sugar cane to the sugar mill.
